Within each 3-year cycle, a body of information and skills are presented. Failure to complete the 3-year cycle results in the child not achieving the “total possibility” offered by the class. Many loose ends, partially developed skills and incoherent knowledge are obvious.

Montessori recognised sensitive periods in the development of children’s lives when they show strong interest in certain aspects of their environment.
